Georgian Cottage

This characterful country property had not been updated for over 30 years. An unnecessarily wide corridor stole space from a small family bathroom and guest bedroom, and all the rooms suffered from poorly executed and aged DIY cabinetry. It needed more space, storage and a palette of rich and warm colours.

Reconfiguring the hallway added much needed floorspace in the family bathroom, single guest bedroom and created a sizeable airing cupboard. Building works across all three bedrooms and the bathroom included essential wall insulation, installing high quality cottage-style double glazing, and the installation of radiators for a new air source heat pump, and a mains-pressure hot water system.

Full height storage cupboards were built either side of the chimney breast in the principle bedroom, and hidden behind period-appropriate tongue-and-groove panelling. Badly executed built in cupboards were removed from the spare guest rooms, for which antique and vintage freestanding furniture was sourced. The large guest bedroom was furnished with zip-and-link beds and a headboard with removable covers to configure as a superking or two singles. The bathroom was papered and tiled to bring in colour and pattern, and the boldly papered hallway set the schemes for all the adjoining rooms.
